6:30 The problem is that Russia is financially incapable of not waging another war soon. Their economy is such a disaster that they'll see plunder of other nations as the only possible way forward.

That's exactly how every Trump voter feels, yes.
17
Russia has never had anywhere near "half the people" on their side in Ukraine.
12
@ Those "3rd party snipers" were Russian mercenaries. And as for why Russia didn't warn Yanukovych that it was a bad idea to use lethal force to suppress protesters? Using lethal force to suppress peaceful protests is the standard way of operating in Russia. It wouldn't occur to a Russian to think that's a bad idea. And yes, in fact, the Ukrainian protesters did just organize themselves. They did in fact just arm themselves to fight back when the government got violent. The United States had nothing to do with it.

@paulb8118 Leave it to American conservatives to be wrong about literally everything.
8
Your third "point" is complete BS. Russia's military focus is entirely expansionist and not "defensive".
8
@Casualphilosopher-db9gy "Taking Belarus" would be redundant, since Belarus is already Russia's puppet state. Also, it wouldn't be "liberals" who'd argue for just letting Russia have the Baltic states. It's the conservatives who support Russia.
7
@thearbiter3351 Lavrov and Putin repeatedly denied that Russia would ever invade Ukraine. Their denials mean absolutely nothing.
5
America certainly hasn't learned anything from that, given that 77 million of us were stupid enough to elect Trump.
4
@Natsukashii-Records No, the whole thing happened because Russia refuses to accept that Ukraine is not part of Russia. Russia considers the very existence of an independent Ukraine to be "provocation".
4
Almost as short-sighted as it was when Germany started World War II. Or when Russia started World War I.
3
@ "Taunting Russia" meaning that they refuse to bow down to Russia.
3
@ThePawcios Yes.
2
Europe never has provoked Russia. Russia treats it as "provocation" that other nations simply exist on its border that aren't under Russia's control.
1
@websitemartian Shut up, Russian.
1
There are no Europeans saying that, liar.
1
It's morons like JD Vance who are the joke.
1
@matheusbarbosa4438 All the more reason to just kick Hungary out of the EU. Or have the other members create a separate EU replacement that excludes Hungary.
1
The US is in fact obligated to protect Europe.
1
"Considered" by who? The most corrupt country in Europe (and indeed, in the entire world) by far is Russia.
1
Claiming that Europe "has no resources" is utterly absurd. And Russia is not rational. It's a despotic imperialist dictatorship. The Warsaw Pact was another example of Russian imperialism. It was in no way a defensive measure, it was a means of dominating other nations.
1
Russia only has access to Moldova if they conquer all of Ukraine. Nobody's going to just allow them to fly in reinforcements to Transnistria.
1
It should be considered an act of treason to even suggest pulling out of NATO.
1
Bismarck overlooked a key fact: any treaty with Russia isn't worth the paper it's written on. In its entire history, there isn't a single treaty Russia has ever signed that they didn't end up violating.
1
The entire narrative that Europe "doesn't pay their fair share" is a lie.
1
@Natsukashii-Records Russia's concept of Ukrainian "neutrality" is for Ukraine to be submissive to Russia. And the so-called "people that wanted to secede" were actually just the invading Russian army and mercenaries. And no, it's not "common sense" that Russia should be able to dominate its neighbors.
1
@ You mean like it went down when Finland joined NATO?
1
How this started in 2014 was that Russia refused to tolerate Ukraine asserting actual independence from Russia.
1
Actually, Putin is stupid.
1
@ They don't actually need any time to develop. The nations of Europe already know how to build a nuclear weapon. Most of them could have their own nukes within hours if they actually chose to make one.
1
@ It's not overestimating Russia. It's more that you underestimate Putin's willingness to take stupid risks. If Putin thinks that NATO would throw the Baltic states under the bus rather than go to war with Russia, he'll roll those dice.
1
@Bleakfacts Russia's economy is far from being strong.
1
@web.deslgner You're outright insane if you deny that Russia's economy is a disaster.
1
@Bleakfacts Russia is not the fourth largest economy in the world, it's the 11th largest.
1
@Bleakfacts PPP is not "more accurate", it just gives bonus points to nations that use slave labor.
1
@web.deslgner The USA is excluding Europe from these shame "negotiations" because Trump is a Russian puppet. Being able to bribe the most corrupt President in history does not require a great economy.
1
@web.deslgner "Special military operation". Yeah, you're totally not a Russia supporter.
1
@Bleakfacts Russia's claims of a self-sufficient economy are pure propaganda.
1
@ "Special military operation" is not a term in international law. It's purely a Russian propaganda term.
1
@Bleakfacts People in Russia have a decent living? That's funny.
1
@Wolfvain-qs5su He's completely wrong.
1
Just because Russia would lose doesn't mean that Russia wouldn't be stupid enough to try.
1
No, Russia's leadership are manifestly not normal people. Neither, it seems, are the Russian people in general. Hence this nonsense about Ukraine being "part of the 'big Russia''". (Which Russia also believes to be true about the Baltic states, and that's exactly why you'd attack Europe.)
1
So what if they speak Russian? That doesn't give Russia any claim to the territory. And "Crimea had previously been a part of Russia" because Russia conquered it and committed genocide against the indigenous Tatars. Russians are not a majority in Donetsk and Luhansk, they're only about 1/3 of the population. Framing Russia's war of conquest as a "peace keeping incursion" is insane, and the "diplomatic solution" that Trump is seeking is to force Ukraine to surrender.
