  1. The reason is obvious: Orban and Erdogan are both far-right authoritarian dictators. Fortunately, the rest of the EU will never allow Turkey to be a member.

  2. And the reason that most of EU didn't support Erdogan after the 2016 "coup attempt" is that it was so obviously a false flag by Erdogan and his minions to justify crackdowns on the opposition and purges of the military and judiciary.

  3. Turkish and Hungarian elections are only barely more legitimate than Russian elections. Unlike in Russia, they don't outright fake the results. But they do tilt the playing field heavily in favor of the authoritarian government.
