@kurumbaatoll9190 "Foreigners" whose parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were born in New Caledonia? Also, the Kanaks were not the first people to live there either. Some 3,000 years ago the islands were inhabited by the Lapita people, and 1,500 years before that by some unidentified earlier civilization. We don't know what happened to the previous inhabitants, and Kanak history doesn't say either. It's not clear whether the Lapita were the ancestors of the Kanak, or a previous group who the Kanak...defeated and colonized.
