  1. Mali and Burkina Faso are even less able than Niger to stand up to Nigeria's military. Nigeria is larger (in population and wealth) than all other ECOWAS members combined, and their military is the 4th most powerful in all of Africa. I wouldn't give Wagner mercenaries very good odds against the Nigerian Army either. Especially since any Wagner activity in such a war would guarantee American and French involvement to support Nigeria. That, and Wagner doesn't have an Air Force to back them up. Nigeria does.
