  1. Why do people keep talking as if there's a serious prospect of Republicans gaining a Senate majority in the foreseeable future? 2012 was supposed to be their big year, and they lost. It's only going to keep getting worse from here for Republicans, as more of their base dies off and demographics shift further toward Democrats.

  2. That's not a given at all. And if that's what Reid is so worried about, why did he cave two years ago as well, when there was no prospect of an assault weapon ban reaching the floor? BTW, "assault rifles" are already banned. Assault rifles by definition are full-auto, and production of full-auto weapons for civilian sale was banned in 1986.
