  1. Yes, we need to cancel this trillion dollar turkey. To add insult to injury, even if they work out all the other issues and get the F-35 to perform up to its design specs...it won't even be a very good fighter jet. It's slower, shorter ranged, and carries fewer weapons than the planes it's supposed to replace.

  2. That might have been true a decade ago. But now trying to get them to make it work is just throwing good money after bad. Really, the idea of having planes designed for three distinctly different roles share the same airframe was stupid in the first place. Had we developed three different new fighters (one for the Air Force, one for the Navy, one for the Marines, since they each have different mission requirements), they'd probably all be in service by now, and for a lower price than the F-35.
