  1. Sturmgewehr specifically refers to a full-auto weapon. Likewise for the English translation, assault rifle. Not one of the weapons that Feinstein's "assault weapon" ban proposal would have covered were full-auto.

  2. Terminology sure as hell does matter when the terminology is what people are responding to. When people hear "assault weapon" they think the proposal is to ban machine guns. But those are already banned, another fact that most Americans are unaware of. It's no different from how Republicans use deceptive terminology like "the death tax" to push their own agenda.
