  2. The problem is, those so-called "facts" have nothing other than Zimmerman's own word to support them. There's no actual evidence to indicate that Zimmerman lost track of Martin, or that he was leaving the scene.

It banned certain semi-automatic rifles and allowed other, functionally identical semi-automatics, based solely on cosmetic features that were deemed scary-looking. It was a stupid law that accomplished nothing useful. And no, banning automatic rifles is not a good idea. It's a ridiculous idea.

  5. The prosecution will provide evidence that shows Zimmerman started the confrontation and was not acting in self-defense. If the defense only responds with Zimmerman saying "nuh-uh", the jury is going to convict him.

  8. That's what I'm saying. That the doctor lied. That was the whole point of going to the family doctor the next day instead of to hospital the night of the shooting. If somebody had broken my nose, I wouldn't want just sleep it off and then have a doctor look at it the next day. I'd want it dealt with immediately. That's what any sane person would do. The problem is that the ER doctors would have no reason to lie on Zimmerman's behalf, while his family doctor (no doubt a long-time friend) might.

  12. The "assault weapon ban" was a ridiculous law that banned guns based solely on how scary they LOOKED to people who don't like guns. It was based on irrelevant features like barrel shrouds and bayonet lugs. Tell me, when was the last time a bayonet was used in the commission of a crime? The assault weapon ban accomplished nothing, and that's why there was so little political support for renewing it. That's why all the attempts to pass a new one never even make it to the floor for a vote.

  13. We've seen the lacerations on the back of Zimmerman's head, and it's a pair of small, shallow cuts. "Scratches" would be an accurate description of them. But yes, I certainly think the family's doctor exaggerated the injuries in his medical report. That was clearly the whole point of going to the family doctor the next day, instead of having the EMTs take him to the hospital right away.

  14. That "90 guns for every 100 people" figure is irrelevant, because most gun owners own multiple guns. The real question is how many people own guns. According to Gallup, 30% of Americans are gun owners.

Also, US law defines every draft-eligible American as being "the militia". Which is entirely consistent with what the founders meant when they referred to a militia in the 2nd Amendment.

  17. That's false. Not even close to true. The vast majority of guns from Mexican crime scenes that have their serial numbers run through the ATF database came from the US. But they don't BOTHER to run the serial numbers though the ATF database if they already know the gun in question came from somewhere else. The drug syndicates in Mexico prefer to arm themselves with machine guns. They can't get those in US gun stores. They can only get them from the black market.

  18. Zimmerman refused to go to the hospital, and instead went to his family doctor the next day. Why did he do that? Probably because he figured he could count on the family doctor to give him a more favorable medical report. And scratches ARE lacerations, dumbass.

  20. Zimmerman's word alone won't create "reasonable doubt". You're the one who doesn't understand. If the prosecution presents its case, and all Zimmerman's defense has to respond is his own word, he'll be convicted, without question.
