"Also, Russia is CLEARLY justified in raising concerns about the Ukrainian internal matters as they share a common border." Bullshit. Simply having a border with Ukraine does not give Russia any say in Ukraine's internal affairs. Also, the majority of Ukrainians, including in eastern Ukraine, have no interest in being annexed by Russia. The pro-Russian forces are a fringe minority backed up by invading Russian soldiers with the patches removed from their uniforms. And the protests in Kiev against the previous Ukrainian government were not violent until the previous government started gunning down the protesters. At that point, the protesters started fighting back.

TheMinimumPC Again, the Ukrainian people seem to disagree. They don't think that Russia is better for them than the EU and US. That history of Russian oppression they've experienced might have something to do with their position. And Crimea referendum was a sham on every level. Even holding the referendum violated Ukraine's constitution, and the results were blatantly rigged. Russia claims that 97% of Crimea voted in favor of annexation. Even if 100% of the ethnic Russians voted for Russia, that wouldn't have been 97% of Crimea. Do you seriously think the Crimean Tatars, who were the targets of Russian genocide just 60 years ago, voted to join Russia too?

Stepa S. Funny how Russia's actions (invading their neighbors under the pretext of "protecting Russian speakers") is what's actually comparable to Nazi Germany. I say that the vote in Crimea was rigged because that's what all the evidence indicates. Fucking Google it. And really, "97% in favor" doesn't even pass the laugh test. That's the kind of results you got in Saddam Hussein's "reelections", or the old Soviet Union's single-candidate "elections". And I dismiss the claim that the Kiev government "banned Russian" as a lie because it is a lie.

TheMinimumPC As a Russian apparently you think Russia is better for Ukraine. The Ukrainians seem to think differently. And there was absolutely nothing "democratic" about Russia's conquest of Crimea.

Russia has already invaded Ukraine, you fucking idiot. Just because the Russian troops took the insignia off their uniforms first doesn't make them cease to be Russian troops.
1
Stepa S. First they invaded Crimea. Now they're invading eastern Ukraine, with Russian soldiers in Russian uniforms (but the insignia removed) pretending to "pro-Russian Ukrainians".
1
Stepa S. That referendum was a sham, and everyone knows it. Russia had already invaded and occupied Crimea before holding that referendum, a referendum that was BTW prohibited by the Ukrainian constitution, and the referendum was rigged on top of that. And claiming that the uniformed troops in eastern Ukraine are "unidentified" is bullshit. Some of them have even been identified by name as Russian soldiers!
1
Stepa S. The fake referendum in Crimea isn't about the opinion of the people. The results were blatantly rigged. And again, you're ignoring the fact that the Ukrainian constitution bans such referendums. And I am so fucking sick of you liars claiming that the Ukrainian government banned the use of anybody's language.

Joe Verlander No, it was the old Ukrainian government that used murderous force against unarmed protesters. But then the protesters armed themselves in response, and the Ukrainian Army refused to massacre them, so the old Ukrainian government looted the national treasury for their own use and fled to Russia. There was never any bill to "ban Russian". And given that Russia invaded and conquered a Ukrainian province already, that debt owed to Russia has been invalidated.

antonio vicente marín The president of Ukraine was the one who sent those snipers to kill unarmed protesters. That is why the protesters turned to violence, they were being fucking shot by their corrupt and increasingly despotic president.
1
antonio vicente marín Of course it was by Yanukovich. He did it because he didn't tolerate dissent, and sought to crush the protesters.

maxxmann1972 "I thought the US was running these missles through Turkey to be used in Syria by al-queda." Then you're a blithering idiot.
