  1. Much better would've been possible if not for Reid's refusal to reform the filibuster. Had it been done on a 51-vote basis instead of needing 60 votes, Obamacare could've at least had the public option, which would've changed it from a mere reform of the existing system into something truly transformative. Without the need for a 60-vote threshold, we could've gotten a stimulus that was actually large enough to revive the economy instead of just stopping the bleeding. And so on.

  2. Reid's conservatism shows through in ways that aren't reflected in voting records. When the most "liberal" bill to actually reach the floor is actually conservative, it'll still be recorded as a "liberal" vote when Democrats mostly support it and far-right loonies in the GOP mostly vote against it. See the Obamacare vote, where in the Senate we got a clone of the Heritage Foundation's proposal from 15 years earlier, yet since Republicans now oppose any kind of health care reform, it's "liberal".
