  1. The oil is off the coast of Scotland, not England. It would rightfully be Scotland's oil if they become independent. And the idea that Scotland would take 42% of the UK debt is absurd. As is the idea that Scotland would have to leave the Commonwealth. Did Canada have to leave the Commonwealth when it became independent? Or Australia? Or New Zealand?

  2. George Proud None of those waters in the North Sea are within 12 miles of the English or Welsh coast, so should Scotland become independent how would they still be British waters?
