  1. Richard Wendt Your claims are objectively wrong. Gun violence, like all other forms of violent crime has been going down steadily for decades now. And there's nothing sensible about banning pistols and "military style weapons" (meaning it visually resembles a military weapon).

  2. Why do you guys keep claiming that shootings are getting more common, when the exact opposite is true? And seriously, Fort Hood is a massive base. There are over 53,000 people there at any given time. It's not really shocking that in the span of 5 years there have been two different murderers on the base. BTW, I cannot even imagine that Colonel Jacobs actually believes that if everybody on a base were armed, that in the event of a shooting everyone would start shooting everyone else. If that were the case, how the hell could the Army function in actual combat? And his mentioning that the shooter clearly didn't value his own life since he killed himself misses the point. Ivan Lopez killed himself after being shot at by an armed MP. That's something a lot of mass shooters do: commit suicide when faced with armed resistance. If other soldiers were allowed to be armed on base, he would've faced armed resistance sooner.
