  1.  @adrianlouw2499  How on Earth are the US and NATO "bullying" Russia? Russia's military being dwarfed by the US and NATO is irrelevant, because Russia is the only nation that invaded Ukraine. The "broken agreements" you refer to are ones that don't actually exist outside of Russian government propaganda. And Ukraine is not a "Russian interest", it's a sovereign independent nation.

  2.  @adrianlouw2499  Speaking the Russian language and being ethnically Russian are not the same thing. Ethnic Russians are a bit less than 40% of the Donbas population. Or at least were before the Russian invasion. And Ukraine did not "sign" any such referendum, whatever that's supposed to mean. The sham referendums conduced by the self-proclaimed "people's republics" did not have anywhere near the entirety of Donetsk and Luhansk voting in them.

  3.  @IronPsyde  It's not that the majority in Donbas chose not to vote. It's that the rebels conducted the referendums only in the parts of Donetsk and Luhansk that were under their direct control. Meaning only about half of the two oblasts. It wasn't anything even resembling a free and fair election. Those who opposed secession didn't have a vote. It would be like if a secession vote were held in Texas that didn't allow the people in Dallas, Houston, and El Paso to vote.

  4.  @adrianlouw2499  That announcement wasn't about the Minsk Agreement, it was about Ukraine terminating the "Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation". A treaty that was already defunct since 2014, seeing as it obliged Russia and Ukraine to never invade each other or undermine each other's territorial integrity. Which is precisely what Russia did to Ukraine in 2014 by invading and annexing Crimea.

  7. It was the Soviet Union that did such things. Russia now is not the Soviet Union. It's the revival of the Russian Empire. Russia is a colonizer, so it's insane to pretend they're anti-colonialist.

  8. Pandor's position is complete nonsense, though. Operating in that manner means that nations can violate international law with impunity. It means that the more powerful nation can simply conquer the less powerful nation.

  9.  @adrianlouw2499  Because that's not what the whole war is about. The war is about Russia's refusal to accept Ukraine's existence as an independent nation. Putin likes to bring up NATO but that was only ever a pretext. Had Russia not invaded in 2014, Ukraine never would've been interested in joining NATO. Also, ethnic Russians a minority in eastern Ukraine. The only part of Ukraine that's majority Russian is Crimea, and that's because of Stalin's genocide of the native Tatars and colonization with Russians. And Ukraine has never in fact been ranked as the most corrupt nation in Europe. That's always been Russia.
