@Elainerulesutube The IOC is to blame. The 2020 Olympics should've been delayed another year at least, if not cancelled entirely in favor of giving Tokyo the 2024 games (and thus pushing back Paris to 2028, Los Angeles to 2032, and Brisbane to 2036).

There'll always be some governments willing to subsidize those losses in pursuit of national prestige. See: Russia and China. And of course Qatar will probably bribe their way being an Olympic host at some point (and use slave labor to build the stadiums), resulting in the insanity of the Summer Olympics having to be held in winter because it's so fucking hot in Qatar. Just like they've done for next year's World Cup.
