The Soviets continued to make use of this basic concept for decades afterward, such as the Project 1208 and Project 1248 gunboats mounting a pair of T-55 turrets. (Which is actually kind of fitting, since the D-10T tank gun traces its lineage back to the B-34 naval gun.) In fact, some of those 1970s gunboats are apparently still in service. At least until the turrets get stripped to replace the ones that got launched from tanks destroyed in Ukraine.

Because .30 caliber rifles and 3-inch artillery were already commonplace in Russia before the revolution, and the Soviets saw no reason to change from that.
