Seriously, the idea that cats aren't allowed on the ships for "hygiene" reasons is insane, when rodent infestations are one of the biggest hygiene problems on a ship.

It's 155mm guns on the Zumwalts. And I'm utterly baffled by how it was even possible to make those guns in such a way that they're incapable of firing NATO-standard 155mm howitzer ammunition.

@WALTERBROADDUS At this point they should strip off the turrets and strap a pair of PzH 2000 on the hull in their place. At least those would actually be able to shoot.

With regard to self-propelled coastal defense batteries...that was never practical for battleship-sized guns, but once anti-ship missiles came into existence there are some that have been mounted on trucks for that purpose.

With regard to Fletchers in the "anti-Kamikaze" configuration with 14 40mm Bofors, anybody who wants to see one in person can go to Baton Rouge and see USS Kidd.
