Had the KGV-class been build to use the 15"/42 guns from the Revenge-class,, the most likely scenario would've been if the Revenge-class had already been retired prior to the KGV-class being conceived, resulting in those guns being placed into storage. If the R-class had been retired to comply with the London Naval Treaty in 1930, that would've meant Tiger and all 4 Iron Duke-class would've been retained instead. Presumably the reasoning for such a choice would be that whole the R's had better guns and thicker armor, the Iron Dukes had a greater potential for modernization, and Tiger's speed would make her more useful for hunting commerce raiders. And the Iron Dukes would've been just as capable as the R-class, if not more so, for the convoy escort role.
