@Lurking Grue Moskva was nearly triple Stark's size, and the Neptune missile actually has a slightly smaller warhead than Exocet. Granted, one of the Exocets that hit Stark had a dud warhead, but it still should've been possible for Moskva to be saved. It'd be one thing if some of her own P-1000 Vuklan missiles had been detonated. That would've probably broken Moskva in half. But setting the ship on fire shouldn't have been enough to outright sink her. The Russia Navy obviously isn't very good at damage control.

@Joshua-fi4ji Turkey tried to sell her back to West Germany for that purpose, but unfortunately it didn't happen. As for preserving Yavuz themselves...Turkey isn't nearly as rich a nation as Germany, and that was even more true in the 1970s.

@ramal5708 In theory, a 28cm gun turret would still be of use against modern ships. Not useful enough to be worth building a new one, but if it's already there why not keep it?

It's interesting how Scheer is the least known of the panzerchiffe trio even though objectively she was the most successful.

@michaelkovacic2608 I'd also be interested in knowing if the Kriegsmarine actually had any finalized secondary battery decided on for Gneisenau. Her 15cm guns had been removed to use as coastal batteries, so clearly they were going to be replaced with something. The problem is that neither of the Kriegsmarine's planned 12.8cm dual-purpose guns ever made it into production. The navalized version of the Flakzwilling 40 never had its turret design completed, and I don't think the SK C/41 intended for destroyers was ready yet either in 1943 when the conversion work was cancelled.
