  1. I've never heard of this being called the Astoria-class. And the usual US Navy practice is that the lead ship of a class is whichever one had the lowest hull number, even if that wasn't the actual first ship to be laid down, launched, or completed. Hence we have the Colorado-class battleships and not Maryland-class, even though Maryland came a full 2 years earlier than Colorado.
