  1. And for good reason. Russia literally ended Poland's existence as a country more than once. Few nations have as much experience being oppressed by Russia as Poland does.

  3. Not just a language; Russia invented the whole nation of Moldova. Not the name, that's entirely real. But the current country is only the eastern half of historical Moldova. The western half remains part of Romania, as it has been since 1859 when the Romanian principalities (Wallachia and Moldavia) united. The invention of the "Moldovan language" was one part of Russia's larger propaganda effort to create an artificial Moldovan nationality, so as to prevent a reunification (or re-reunification?) with Romania.

  12. The Principality of Moldavia was called Moldova in Romanian. It's just more convenient to call it Moldavia because that makes it clear which one we're talking about. And yes, modern Moldova is only the eastern half of Moldavia that got stolen by Russia. The western half of Moldavia remains part of Romania.
