  3. The L3/35 was meant for infantry support particularly in Italian Alps, where true tanks (even light tanks) were too big to go. The problem is that Italy wasn't fighting a defensive war against invaders coming through the Alps, so they used their tankette for roles it was completely unsuited to. Tankettes are extremely limited vehicles to begin with, so trying to use them as they're actual tanks was never going to work out.
