@nathanielrittenhouse9965 Because we have an insanely undemocratic system of "elections" in America, that's why.

What virus outbreaks during Obama's presidency were remotely comparable to COVID-19? That's right, there weren't any. H1N1 turned out to be far less deadly than the ordinary seasonal flu. And if you bring up ebola, you're a joke because that doesn't even qualify as an outbreak. No Americans at all died from ebola in 2014. The only death in America was a Liberian tourist who contracted the virus in Liberia. And the claim that the Trump administration "improved" the virus response plan is utterly insane. If that had been the case, we woudln't have over 137 thousand Americans dead already, with no end in sight. Many other nations have beaten COVID-19 already. It would have been possible for the United States to do the same, if we had competent leadership.

@burntupretardporn There's not a chance in hell that would've happened. There would've been nothing to impeach Hillary Clinton over, and there's no way Republicans ever would've had enough votes to do it.

@chattingwithu In reality, the 2000 election is perfect proof that the electoral college makes it much easier to steal an election. And voter fraud is virtually non-existent, so trying to "prevent" it is a waste of time. Elections have never been stolen by voter fraud. They've been stolen by frauludent counting of the votes.

@Proud Honky You have all of the worst people. And Trump is the "geriatric, demented candidate", along with being so obese he has trouble even walking down a ramp.
2
@chattingwithu You say that "In a pure DEMOCRACY the BARE MAJORITY could EASILY terrorize the rest of the COUNTRY." Perhaps so. But with the electoral college and the Senate, a minority can easily terrorize and tyrannize the rest of the country. And that's exactly what has happened. We have minority rule in America, thanks to our founders doing a very poor job of designing our government.

Big gut Ed The Anti-Masonic Party did not come anywhere close to winning the presidency. Their nominee got 7.8% of the popular vote and 7 out of 288 electoral votes in 1832. They finished 4th in the popular vote and 3rd in the electoral. That was the only year the Anti-Masonic Party nominated anybody for President. And claiming the electoral college is used "to make the vote fair" is completely insane. What it does is make the vote unfair by allowing the tyranny of minority rule. No, the majority is not always right. But that doens't somehow equate to the minority being superior to the majority. And no, counties do not have electoral votes.

Big gut Ed There's no such thing as "counties vote". It's the individual votes in each state that decide who the state's electoral votes will go to. Counties aren't a factor.
1
Big gut Ed That's not how it works. It's the statewide votes that determine the electoral college. Counties don't enter into it.

Big gut Ed You didn't quote any story on Washington Post.
