  1.  @danielsolodov4222  None of Russia's grievances are legitimate. Russia's actual grievance is that NATO membership makes it impossible for them to conquer the Baltic states and Poland. Also, it makes no difference what percentage of the Russian people support Putin. Even if they really do all support him (rather than just "supporting" him to avoid being disappeared), Russia's invasion still has to be stopped.

  2. Who cares what The Duran claims? Russia wanted to make a quick strike on Kyiv to topple the Ukrainian government and install Viktor Medvedchuk as a puppet president who would surrender the country to Russia.

  3. The options are either perpetual war by giving Russia whatever they demand every time they start a war (thus incentivizing them to keep starting wars) or a very quick war by defeating Russia.

  7. There's a third option beyond negotiating a "deal" that allows Putin to keep his stolen territory or keeping this conflict going for a decade. That option is simply defeating Russia. I don't mean Ukraine completely driving Russia out of Ukraine. I mean NATO actively entering the war and driving Russia back to their own borders. The Yugoslav Civil War is not the proper analogy to Russia's current actions. The proper analogy is to Germany's invasions of Czechoslovakia and Poland. Putin isn't going to see any agreement that lets him keep part of Ukrainian territory as the end of the war. He's going to see such a victory as a sign of continued Western weakness. He'll see that as an incentive to invade again and seize even more territory, and demand further concessions to end the next war. It would be another Munich Agreement.

  14. The problem with this logic is that allowing Russia to keep their stolen territory would just incentivize them to invade Ukraine again in a few years to seize even more. A mere agreement on paper to end the war won't prevent that.
