@undertyped1 That's not how global warming works. There's no prospect that it could turn the whole planet into an inhospitable desert. There will still be plenty of life on Earth if nothing is done about global warming. It's just that none of that life would be human.

Basically, it's silly for Wyoming to be a state at all. Should've just assigned pieces of it to Colorado, Nevada, and Idaho. Nor is this the only state that shouldn't exist. North and South Dakota always should've just been Dakota. Not that any of this would really matter much if we would ever do the rational thing and abolish the Senate.
1
And this is a vestige of colonialism that needs to end. The US territories should be given either statehood or independence, according to their preference.
1
13:47 I love that Syria claims the Hatay Province "historically belonged to Syria for centuries", when Syria has only existed as a nation for 103 years. For the previous four centuries, Syria itself was part of Turkey.
1
@zet99darius87 The Assyrians lived primarily in modern-day Iraq. Modern Syria claiming continuity with them is even sillier than modern Israel claiming continuity with the Kingdom of Judah.
1
That's how Russia actually sees things. They think smaller nations like Poland don't actually matter and shouldn't get to make their own decisions. They think that smaller nations' only reason for existence is to be dominated by Russia.
1
@timthetiny7538 How many American cities have a GDP of $2 trillion?
1
@Under-Kaoz No. Population is the only thing that matters. Land size is irrelevant, and Maryland does not own the land.
1
Increasing? Russia's military power is in sharp decline, especially in terms of naval power. A single US Navy carrier battle group is more powerful (by a wide margin) than the entire Russian Navy. And Britain's Royal Navy could easily defeat the Russian Navy as well.
1
Why? The people living in DC have no connection to Maryland. And Maryland doesn't want them either. It would be both undemocratic and unconstitutional (because one of the things specifically forbidden by the Constitution is altering a state's borders against its will).
1
Why? What's the benefit of that instead of simply giving them actual statehood?
1
@twokool4skool129 How exactly do you think Russians came to "already live" in Crimea? That happened via Russia conquering Crimea, and killing or deporting most of the indigenous population in order to replace them with Russian colonists.
1
@twokool4skool129 The Rus' came about from a Swedish ruling class intermixing with an East Slavic population in Ukraine.
1
Yeah, China surpassed Russia's military technology years ago.
1
@grahamreece519 In fact, repealing the 23rd Amendment would be quite easy. After all, red states would just have to be told "if it's kept in place, that means Joe Biden gets 3 electoral votes automatically".
1
The last unclaimed part of Antarctica is Marie Byrd Land, which is pretty much unofficial US territory and will be claimed instantly if and when the Antarctic Treaty expires.
1
@samuelpenalosa3034 Those are all some of the biggest liars on the planet. They very much have an agenda, and that agenda is supporting Russia. Some of them are quite literally on the Kremlin payroll.
1
@RogueSecret Contrary to what Russia shills keep trying to claim, the United States would not in fact invade Mexico if they joined the CSTO.
1
@samuelpenalosa3034 None of those people you listed tell the truth, and they very much do have an agenda. That agenda being to support the Russian war effort. Douglas Macgregor and Scott Ritter are quite literally Russian spies.
1
@virariueb7182 Why wouldn't we? Hell, China deliberately devalues their own currency. It's not inherently a bad thing for a currency to have a lower value in international exchange.
1
The even more insane part is Argentina's farcical "claim" to South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, on the basis of...absolutely nothing. They can't even cite proximity to that.
1
Why? The idea of the VP being a second Senator for DC instead of somebody actually elected by DC is a simply bizarre idea.
1
@angusperson4222 NATO is only obligated to intervene if one of their member states is attacked. But NAOT members are free to choose to intervene in other cases.
1
There is also the fact that Germany has among the lowest earthquake risks on the planet. There was absolutely zero possibility of anything like Fukushima ever happening in Germany.
1
@NamemaNSl It's Russia that's hostile and aggressive, not NATO. Russia is the threat to every nation that borders them.
1
@marcusbrown188 I think about 1500 reps would be appropriate for a nation as large as the United States.
1
@yellowtunes2756 No, Russia and Rus' are not the same thing.
1
@stivvits1067 You continue to push the false narrative of NATO being "hostile". It's Russia that's hostile. Russia chose to return to imperialist expansionism. The nations of Eastern Europe begged to be allowed into NATO because they all knew it was inevitable that Russia would do this. Because that's simply in Russia's nature.
1
The Kiribati part really is completely asinine. The Phoenix Islands are uninhabited, so it's pretty irrelevant what side of the International Date Line they lie on. And the Line Islands are barely populated. Why not just have the work week for that 7% of the Kiribati population be Sunday through Thursday?
1
@gehdochnicht No, Russia is not a superpower. They just think they are. The only superpowers are the United States and arguably China.
1
Most likely, the result of all this will be that Afghanistan ceases to exist. The only question is whether genocide will be involved in that.
1
That's absurd. Moving the capital around to wherever is the most "politically balanced" part of the country is an enormous expense for absolutely no gain.
1
@prabhatsourya3883 One thing to bear in mind: the United States has never been a signatory of the Montreux Convention. The US complies with its restrictions as a courtesy to Turkey, not as a legal obligation.
1
The fact that Madagascar has a larger population than Australia surprised me. But the vast majority of Australia's land being unpopulated? That's because it's Emu territory, and Australia lost the Emu War.
1
The Russia shills completely ignore how difficult it actually was for the nations of Eastern Europe to convince NATO to let them join.
1
@theredsalmon612 Voting for Trump would bring about the destruction of the United States from within.
1
@sp3cterproductions They didn't invent ICBMs. And Russia has demonstrated an inability to properly maintain anything. Because maintenance costs money, and Russia is deeply corrupt. The money for "maintenance" gets embezzled into oligarchs' offshore bank accounts.
1
@commander8625 Telling people they can only have their rights as Americans if they pack up and move to another part of America is insane. The proper reaction to such a suggestion is to do something with that shovel you offered that's very different from digging a hole.
1
@ricardoxavier827 Nah, rather than 1 Senator per state, make it zero Senators per state.
1
Yes, that was "the whole point of DC". Which illustrates that some of the founding fathers' priorities were actually really stupid.
1
Since they haven't given it a name, I'd say call it Sisiopolis, since it's entirely a monument to Sisi's ego.
1
@FlorinSutu It sounds like you're a very stupid person, then.
1
Utter nonsense. Had those countries in Eastern Europe not joined NATO, most of them would've already been either invaded by Russia, or forced to become "allies" of Russia under the threat of invasion.
1
@ivancertic5197 Because Russia was never going to remain weak forever.
