@shirazzmataz Only one referendum has been held, ever. And the situation in the UK has massively changed since that referendum. Boris Johnson pulling out of his ass that it's supposed to be "once in a generation" is not a valid reason to not allow another referendum. This argument would be like if the Tories wanted to cancel Britain's elections forever, saying "seems weird that election after election is expected to be held until Labour wins".

@worlds3061 West Papua literally never wanted to be part of Indonesia, so it's not a remotely similar situation.

@therealtaco7328 I would say that's probably a significant overestimate of Quebec's likelihood (given the steadily declining desire for independence among the Québécois), and a bit of an underestimate for South Yemen (given that the entirety of Yemen is such an ungovernable basket case that it's probably going to disintegrate one way or another).

@honor9lite1337 The Indonesian government (ie the colonizers) are the entire reason West Papua independence isn't going to happen.
