@wkgurr Russia talks about wanting Ukraine to be "neutral", but what they've always meant by that is "submissive". Russia thinks that they're entitled to dominate their neighbors. Switzerland chose its neutrality. Every nation is entitled to make such a choice. "Neutrality" that's imposed from the outside is simply domination by more powerful neighbors.

@wkgurr Switzerland has been able to survive as a neutral nation is that their terrain has historically made them extremely difficult to invade. And since 1945, their immediate neighbors are no longer in the business of expansion via conquest. Neither of these factors applied to Ukraine, which has wide-open borders with the aggressively expansionist Russia.
