  1. If the US went on to annex Central America as well, the Darién Gap in Panama is nearly impassable, so there'd barely be any need to even have a Border Patrol. The marshland and rain forest would keep everybody out. Plus once the Panama Canal was built that would be yet another impassable barrier.
