Comments by "" (@RedXlV) on "Why Australian Troops Still Use a Bullpup Rifle" video.
IIRC, the British Army is looking to replace the SA80 with an AR pattern rifle. And as for Ukraine, they use everything that goes bang, pretty much. When you're being invaded by a larger army, you can't be picky.

@vncube1 It's because the AUG SMG has the exact same controls and ergonomic as the AUG assault rifle. So any Austrian soldier who's fresh out of basic training and only ever trained on the AUG, if they're assigned to a unit where an SMG is needed and are handed a 9mm AUG, that's very comfortable for them. They don't need to re-learn anything at all.

What I don't understand is why there aren't more downward ejecting bullpups. For example, the Kepplinger MRCS was a modified AUG with an offset magazine well on the left side of the stock (still inserted vertically, just offset to the side) and a downward-facing ejection port on the right side. Sadly, it didn't get any orders, but it seems that would be the mechanically simplest way to make a fully ambidextrous bullpup.
