Just because John Mearsheimer has a PhD doesn't make him a serious commentator. His claims are complete and utter bullshit. I completely disagree that Mearsheimer's "neutral Ukraine" proposal was remotely realistic. Ironically, 20 years ago Mearsheimer was 100% right about Ukraine: he advocated that they should keep their nuclear weapons for protection against Russian aggression.
