  1.  @cv990a4  Even after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, few people saw the fall of the USSR coming. After all, East Germany was an obviously artificial country with no separate identity from the rest of Germany. The same was not true of the other Warsaw Pact nations.
