  1. Nurlinda F Sihotang I really think the movie was hurt at the box office by Disney's silly insistence on not having "Mars" in the title. Having the title just be "John Carter" make it confusing to people not already familiar with the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel as to what the movie was even about. Not everybody pays attention to trailers, and calling it "John Carter of Mars" (as was originally intended) would've made it clear exactly what kind of movie it was.

  2. I really enjoyed John Carter and was very disappointed that it flopped (meaning no adaptations of the book's sequels).

  3. I'm assuming a lot of it was backlash over the stunt casting of Johnny Depp as a Native American. Beyond that, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad either.
