  1. The name "Seamew" is clearly cursed, at least when it comes to planes. All three aircraft with that name (the Supermarine, Curtiss, and Short) were failures. The river gunboat HMS Seamew, on the other hand, seems to have been successful enough with a 20-year (albeit uneventful) career.
