  5.  @miguelmiranda4970  There is literally no one in the United States who has an income tax rate of "almost 48%". The top tax bracket is 37%, and that applies only to income above $540k. All income below that threshold is taxed at lower rates.

  6.  @RonDzLFAROUT  Even if you're living in California, the state with the highest income tax, the top rate of 12.3% applies only to income about $1.35 million, and the next highest brackets of 11.3% and 10.3% start at $813k and $667k. Even if you have income of well over $1 million (meaning you're not merely a 1%er but a 0.1%er), and you live in California, and all of it is in the form of regular income and not capital gains (which are taxed at much lower rates), and for some ridiculous reason claim no deductions at all, your effective income tax rate still isn't going to get anywhere close to 48%. The only way anyone could ever end up paying 48% of their income in taxes if they check the box on their tax return to voluntarily give the government extra money.
