  3. One of the fundamental flaws of the Good Friday Agreement's power-sharing system is that it failed to account for the rise of political parties that are neither nationalist nor unionist. For example, what happens if in the next election, Sinn Fein again ends up as the largest party but the Alliance surpasses DUP as the second largest? At that point, DUP's guarantee of being able to appoint the deputy First Minister becomes not just means of obstruction but an anti-democratic absurdity. But even as it stands, the power-sharing agreement has outlived its usefulness. The Unionists are going to have to accept Irish unification or pack up and move to England. (Scotland wouldn't work, because they're pretty clearly on their way out of the UK as well.)
