  1. Bharat has been India's indigenous name for thousands of years. While the name "India" comes from ancient Greek and Latin. If they officially request that other countries start referring to them by the indigenous name rather than the colonial name, that would be perfectly reason. I'm honestly surprised it's taken this long. It was way back in 1935, for example, that Iran formally requested that the rest of the world stop calling them Persia (also a name of Greek origin). And basically everybody responded with "okay, that's fair" and started calling them Iran.

  4. Taiwan is a democracy, the PRC is a dictatorship. The PRC seeks to abolish the Taiwanese democracy and bring the island under their authoritarian rule. That's not a difference that can merely be "ironed out".

  8. Taiwan has never been part of the People's Republic of China. The fact that it used to be part of the previous Chinese nation doesn't give the PRC any sovereignty over it.

Taiwan knows that that no matter what promises the PRC makes about continued autonomy after reunification, those promises will inevitably be broken and direct PRC rule will be imposed.
