  1. The fact that Earth is round has been almost universally known in Europe since the time of Pythagoras. Giordano Bruno's new ideas were that the sun is just one of many stars, that other stars also had planets revolving around them, and that there's no such thing as "the center of the universe". All of which he was correct about. He also proposed that other planets could have their own life on them, which given the sheer size of the universe is highly likely but yet to be confirmed (and might never be possible to confirm, given the distances involved). If any of his astronomical ideas were responsible for the church burning him as a heretic, it was probably that one. The notion that Earth is nothing special would've enraged the church.

Argument from personal incredulity is a logical fallacy, not a valid argument. Just because you find it hard to believe that human activity could impact Earth's climate doesn't make it untrue.

  9.  @billtmarchi4320  It's not "Earth" that's in danger. Earth is a 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 ton rock. It's going to be around for billions of years to come. But some of us aren't sociopaths and actually would prefer not to cause billions of people to die prematurely.
