  3.  @hamd52  That's not threatening states to not postpone primaries. It's a matter that the primaries have to be held before the final cutoff date. Because every primary needs to be done before the convention.

  5.  @kurtglathar5162  No, it's not up to the party. Why do you think that Democratic, Republican, and other smaller party primaries are all on the same day? And why do you think that you have the same state employed poll workers running the primaries as you have in the general elections? It's because the primaries are set up as a matter of state law. The primary date in any given year is set by an act of the state legislature. Or rather, that's how it is in 46 out of the 50 states. In the other 4 states (Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, and North Dakota), the state Democratic Parties opted to hold what's known as "firehouse primaries" in which party officials run the primary on their own, without any help from the state governments.
