  2.  @thesoundsmith  My point about the weakness of the Constitution is that it lacked safeguards for these things. Granted, that's not the fault of the men who wrote it. There was no way for them to anticipate what new and creative forms of corruption would come 200 years after they were dead. But it would take constitutional amendments to deal with these abuses in a comprehensive way.
