  5.  @strumbum946  Seniority is a factor, but if it were simply the most senior member of the majority then Steny Hoyer would be Speaker right now. And when Pelosi first became the leader of the House Democratic Caucus in 2003, there were 44 other Dems with more seniority. It would certainly require a massive progressive takeover of the Democratic Party for AOC to be Speaker of the House, but it's hardly impossible.
