Comments by "" (@RedXlV) on "What's new about Boris Johnson's Brexit deal?" video.
@samwright4420 And yet, Brexit is going to tear the UK apart. The current version of the deal is de facto reunification of Ireland, and there's sure to be another Scottish independence referendum in the near future.

This isn't about "permission" to leave. It's that the UK wants to leave the EU but keep all the benefits of access to the European market.

@willmalin3752 Unfortunately, there's lots of irrational people who will vote.

@juststunts2 The United Kingdom would quite literally cease to exist if Brexit had just been pushed through immediately without establishing any deals with Europe to maintain access to the market and to maintain the open Irish border. Unionism is already in decline in Northern Ireland. It remains the plurality position (for now), but no longer the majority. A "hard" or "no-deal" Brexit resulting in a closed border would almost certainly push the fence-sitters into the Irish nationalist camp. Brexit is also enormously unpopular in Scotland. Once Brexit goes through, and especially if it's a no-deal Brexit, that's going to bolster the Scottish independence movement. Now, Northern Ireland and Scotland could very well still end up leaving the UK. But if Brexit had just been rushed through 3 years ago immediately after the referendum, there's a good chance they would've already left.
