  2.  @slook7094  Which is crazy since even at the time, there prominent voices in Parliament who recognized that the British were unambiguously the bad guys of the Opium Wars. Well really, everybody in Britain pretty much knew that at the time. It's just that the majority were fine with it because there was so much money to be made.

  3. The main issue was that Britain had a really stupid concept of economics at the time. They thought that if you're importing more than you export, you're losing, no matter how much money you're making in the process.
