  1. Fun fact: in 1956, Malta voted to be fully integrated into the United Kingdom, but the UK refused to take them. Apparently because they were worried that other British colonies might want the same deal and thus colonies (which unlike Malta had non-white majorities) could end up with representation in the House of Commons.
