@Sammie1053 I mean, I understand that they need a definition of "machine gun" that encompasses those assault rifles and machine pistols that have 2- or 3-round burst only, without a true full-auto mode. There's no way they'd let (for example) the M16A2 not count as a machine gun. But it seems like the definition ought to be one trigger pull fires more than one bullet out of the same barrel. A double-barrel firearm where a single trigger pull fires a single bullet out of each barrel should not be designated as a machine gun under the law.

@akusav333 US law defines a "machine gun" as any firearm that fires more than one bullet when the trigger is pulled. It doesn't make a distinction for whether those multiple bullets all come out of the same barrel. So for any gun with multiple barrels, unless you want it to be restricted as a machine gun, it has to be either only capable of firing one barrel at a time (as is the case for any single trigger, double-barrel shotguns) or there has to be a separate trigger for each barrel.
