@tombogan03884 Please, what a bunch of bullshit. Why exactly do you think the Republican Party went from being based in the Northeast and nonexistent in the South to barely existing in the Northeast and dominant in the South, while the Democratic Party made the exact opposite transition?

Slavery was also just not as important to the slavers in the UK. British slavers simply saw it as a means to make money. The government compensating them for their freed slaves was something they'd accept. But in the American South, slavery had become more than just an economic system. It was the foundation of their entire society.

@ImperialSenpai Of course parties change, because parties consist entirely of the people who are their members. And your claim that Republicans became less conservative is the most ridiculously, opposite-of-reality take possible.

@horehoundbasedcandy8736 The South most certainly did not get less racist. If anything, the South has gotten more racist since the 1960s. I've lived in the South my entire life, you can't gaslight me about the racism down here. And that "modern slavery" comment is a farce.
