  3. The advantage of a longer barrel for 5.56 isn't just range. 5.56, being a small-caliber round that even with the heavier bullet is still fairly light, derives its lethality from velocity. Out of a longer barrel, the bullet is more likely to fragment after entering a human torso. At any rate, is the French Navy also going to adopt the HK416, or will the Fusiliers Marins and Commandos Marine still use the FAMAS-G2?
