  3. The original Sterling SMG literally is the E-11 blaster rifle. In the original movie, Lucas's prop department got a few actual Sterling Mk IVs and dressed them up a bit. For the rest of the trilogy, they took a molding of one of the dressed-up Sterlings and made plastic props.
