@alexsis1778 By the letter of the law, it is. This time it's not the ATF pulling something out of their ass. It's a matter of a 91-year-old law that was written by Congresscritters who didn't think things out and probably didn't know much about guns.

The AR-15 seems like a poor basis for making a double-barrel rifle like this. Simply because the need for buffer tubes results in that excessively wide stock.

@tsufordman US law doesn't make that distinction. When "machine guns" were restricted by the NFA of 1934, they were defined as any gun that fires more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger. So volley guns require the same ATF approval and $200 tax stamp as true machine guns. And thanks to the 1986 machine gun ban, no new "machine guns" can be registered for individual ownership anymore. For the same reason, double-barrel shotguns cannot have a single trigger that fires both barrels.
