They're also very similar in overall length, so it would probably have been workable in the existing Mosin magazine. The .303 rim is 0.76mm smaller than 7.62x54R, so there would need to be some alteration to the extractor, but otherwise probably the existing bolt would've been fine. It's kind of surprising that Estonia didn't do it, since they were already cutting the barrels down to the shorter length.

Overall length is very similar, so the existing magazine should've worked fine. They're already cutting down barrels, so it doesn't seem like it'd be that much harder to rechamber them to .303 British.

Having known nothing about Estonian Mosins, when Ian got to that point I was expecting to hear that Estonia rechambered them to .303. Given that the two rounds are very similar in size, both rimmed, and both use the same diameter bullet, it seems like that should actually have been possible. Aside from the barrel, it seems like the only other necessary change would've been the extractor, since the .303 rim is 0.76mm smaller.

On its face, it seems like the Mosin should be very well suited to convert to .303 British. But I'm not aware of any military doing so.
