  2. A major reason that Republicans are so widely perceived as better on the economy is that Republican candidates are almost always rich. And stupid people are inclined to assume that being rich makes a person an expert on the economy. Another reason is that the big corporations usually favor Republicans. Most people are unaware of how corporate strategies are almost always very short-sighted, prioritizing immediate short-term profits over long-term profits. Even when this means that in the long run the corporation will make less money overall. Hence corporations wanting Republicans in power so they can get tax cuts and deregulation, despite the fact that a strong economy is more important to their own profits and having Republicans in power makes a strong economy less likely.
