  1. In the US, MD and DO are almost exactly the same. That's because the American osteopathy schools have abandoned the quackery and admit that "osteopathy" only works to treat joint and lower back pain. Everything else they do is just regular western medicine like a normal MD. But a DO from an American university is the only kind that makes them a real doctor. In the rest of the world, "osteopathy schools" still teach the original, 19th century quack version of osteopathy and claim joint manipulation can cure everything.
